From this vantage point, Centralia looks like it could be any small town. Two or three painted benches are placed along the road, along side streets, but besides them and a few houses, not much remains of the town. I'd read about the town and how it had been deserted because of the fire down in the coal mine, and had imagined to find more urban ruins. There are still a few people living in town, but besides their houses and a one or two shells we saw, there is not much else left.

The lack of the remains of the town was a little dissapointing, but at the same time, there were some definitely impressive sights to see. We did discover a couple of grown over roads, but didn't have the time or want to venture too far.
