This year we had a family-reunion camping trip over Labor Day weekend. We went to Hermit Island, a lovely site on the Maine coast which I hadn't been to in 18-20 years. It was nice to get back there and discover it was still pretty much as I'd remembered it from my childhood.

One new thing though was the presence of deer on the island; they hadn't been there the last time. The place is an animal refuge, so they weren't too afraid of people, as long as you didn't get too close. We ended up seeing deer three separate times that weekend.
