The heraldic seal on the gates to Buckingham Palace. I'd seen the lion and the unicorn
in other heraldic pieces and also referenced in a few pieces of anthropomorphic artwork, but
I didn't know the signficance of the two animals. I did a web search on "the lion and the unicorn were fighting for the crown," a phrase I'd seen, and found this reference on the nursery rhyme. The page also explains the symbolism behind the animals. |
